About SISMUN
SISMUN 2012 invites students to step into the shoes of United Nations representatives from more than thirty countries to debate pressing global issues on January 20 -22, 2012. The Singapore International School (Mumbai) Model United Nations 2012 (SISMUN) is a unique part of the school's programme, led by young students from ninth, tenth and eleventh standard with a strong collective experience gained from participation in MUN conferences around the globe. Their zeal to propagate the MUN experience (a simulation of actual United Nations structures and functions applied to world issues) has led to this initiative.

In this conference, five committees of SISMUN will deal with issues affecting the world, from Internally displaced persons and refugees at times of conflict to restoration of peace and stability in Northern and Western Africa, with special reference to Maritime Piracy and faith-based Terrorism. Invited guest speakers will provide an international perspective on these issues and share their expert opinions in dialogue with the student delegates.

In addition, each committee will take up a second topic. For example, Economic equality of women in non-contracted and traditional workplaces, militarization of the Arctic and reform concerning socio-political conditions in refugee camps.

It's said that 'knowing your enemy is half the battle;' the first step is to understand the world's problems in order to find solutions. Bearing this in mind, on the 20 -22 January at SIS, students from international schools all around India will propose and debate their ideas on how to change and improve the world, in a an event to remember. They will leave SISMUN 2012 with a deeper understanding of the dynamics of diplomacy, a stronger grasp of complex world problems, and memories of three intensely stimulating days of debate, with the camaraderie and rivalry true Munners always enjoy.
