Dear Delegates and MUN Advisors,

It is our utmost pleasure and honour to invite you to Singapore International School’s second ever Model United Nations (SISMUN) conference. Following our debut MUN conference last year, we have learned and gained a lot.

Model United Nations conferences have the potential and ability to transform one’s thoughts, awareness and personality. Debating, negotiating, and discussing global issues; meeting and interacting with new faces; and putting yourself in someone else’s shoes is an experience. Such an experience is learning in itself, and memorable to each. It is not an easy task; it requires a thirst for knowledge, leadership, hard work, dedication and plenty more. Most of all though, it requires will; the will to make a difference and leave a mark.

Some of the many objectives of a MUN conference are to educate participants about the workings of the UN, enhance a participant’s oratory and debating skill and broaden a participants view and knowledge of the world. Here at SIS, we not only want to achieve this, but achieve it at the highest level. Additionally, participants are greeted with the opportunity to make new friends, speak and stand out, and learn more about current events.

SISMUN will follow and abide by typical HMUN protocol. There are 5 committees, each of which has 2 topics assigned to it. The 5 committees are: AU, Interpol, UNGA, UNHCR, and UN Women.
